Hotel sheets should be renewed twice a year on average. No matter how good the raw material is, hotel sheets undergo significant wear and tear due to use and industrial washing at high temperatures with aggressive products. Manufacturing industrial linen stock in Asia is economical and profitable for hotels, residences, and hospitals.
The calculation of the necessary sheet stock for hostels or rural houses is simple. For accommodation with 50 rooms (100 beds), two fitted sheets, two flat sheets, and two pillows per room per day are needed. The ideal rotation of hotel sheets is four (with internal laundry) and five (with external laundry). Therefore, one must multiply the bedding for one room by four or five to ensure that there is one set in use, one in the laundry, and two for replacement. Thus, the necessary stock would consist of 400 to 500 sheet sets.
Hotel establishment sheets should be renewed twice a year. Buying from intermediaries is not as profitable as manufacturing or importing bedding from Asia for rural houses, hostels, or residences.
On the other hand, it should be noted that the lifespan of a hotel sheet is about 240 washes, between six and eight months. This implies that it is necessary to renew the stock a couple of times a year. The annual budget should incorporate this item to make purchases preferably in January and September. With good planning, hotel sheets can be manufactured in Asia to optimize the establishment’s benefits.
Types of Sheets for Hotels
In order to offer a good experience to customers and, at the same time, prolong the life of the sheets, they must be pleasant to the touch, with a high thread count, resistant, and easy to iron.
Although there are different raw materials and qualities for the manufacture of hotel sheets, a blend of 50% cotton and 50% polyester is the one that meets the best conditions. The most recommended sheets for intensive use are percale, a blend fabric that is easy to wash and iron, and that offers greater durability thanks to its 180 threads per inch.
Sheets with 200 threads per inch have greater consistency, durability, and comfort. However, their high cost does not make them profitable in rural houses, hostels, or small residences where the price per room is not high. Instead, super percale is used, with fewer than 200 threads but similar characteristics due to its manufacturing process.
As for colors, white is preferred by the majority. To break the monotony, soft colors can be used, which resist washing better than intense ones. An alternative is to personalize hotel sheets with an embroidered name of the establishment, which adds distinction without raising the acquisition cost too much.
Another factor to consider when manufacturing or importing hotel sheets from Asia is the degree of fabric deformation due to the high washing and drying temperatures. For good stability, it is advisable for the number of longitudinal threads to be the same as the number of transverse threads.
Finally, it is important to choose sheets with anti-pilling treatment to prevent the formation of those annoying pills that detract from their appearance and harm the establishment’s reputation.
