How to Order Shower Screens for Import from China

The resurgence of construction and home renovation foresees an increase in demand for shower screens. Industry professionals can benefit from lower prices on quality screens by importing from China
It is not enough to be guided by price or appearance. Before finalizing a purchase of imported shower screens from China, it is necessary to thoroughly understand their safety features and ensure compliance with European regulatory specifications. Ordering a mockup before placing the order is the best way to check the quality in detail.

The large number of shower screen manufacturers can complicate the task of finding a reliable supplier. Imported shower screens from China must meet a series of requirements that must be known.

Types of Shower Screens

Depending on their shape, shower screens can be square, front, rectangular, semicircular, and angular. This determines their opening style, as well as the type of guides, bearings, hinges, and handles.

  • Sliding Screens. Sliding screens have horizontal openings with top and bottom guides. Depending on the dimensions, they can consist of four panels (two fixed at the ends and two sliding in the center) or three sliding panels. This type of screen is most suitable for installation in shallow bathrooms.
  • Hinged Screens. Hinged screens do not have guides but hinges at the ends of the panel that serve as the opening axis and door support. They ensure the best watertightness.
  • Folding Screens. Folding screens slide on guides and fold like an accordion.

Screen Material

The material of the screens imported from China is one of the most important aspects to consider when negotiating with the supplier.

  • Acrylic. Made with a blend of plastic polymers, they are lightweight and economical, allowing for savings in the final order price.
  • Glass. Glass screens imported from China must meet minimum safety requirements. The thickness of the panel should range between 6 and 8 mm. 6 mm glass panels are safe, lighter, and more economical. Thicknesses above 8 mm significantly increase the panel’s weight, which can reduce the effectiveness of bearings, profiles, and accessories. Glass screens can be imported in two types:
    • Tempered. Tempered glass undergoes a heating and cooling process that enhances the glass’s flexion, compression, impact, and thermal characteristics, making it up to 4 times stronger.
    • Laminated. Laminated glass is made by bonding several layers of glass with polyester resin films, resulting in a solid sheet.
