A trip to China to explore the imported sunglasses that will sell the most

Wenzhou Optics Fair, held in China in May 2017, is the global showcase for style and fashion trends in imported sunglasses for 2018. The new materials, innovative shapes, frame colors, and lens gradients from the leading manufacturers are displayed there. A guided tour by Bull Importer’s experts or receiving their advice from home is indispensable to obtain the sunglasses that will be bestsellers next year.
Observing trends at the fair, designing and ordering the manufacture of frames and lenses in China will ensure their highest commercial success. Visiting it will provide firsthand information from the catalogs of the leading imported sunglasses manufacturers, with all guarantees and advantageous prices.

80s style, bold shapes, and large dimensions define the new sunglasses. A visit to the fairs and specialized advice are key to importing fashionable sunglasses

Bold sunglasses with a markedly 80s style, very feminine lines, and large, eye-catching dimensions are some of the fashion trends that will be consolidated in 2018. These evolve in line with the changes that occur each season and are seen on the runways. In fact, sunglasses have become one of the most important fashion accessories, combined with clothing styles and colors.

What the Imported Sunglasses We’ll Wear This Year Look Like

After a period dominated by mirror-effect lenses in all imaginable colors, the fashion in sunglasses has evolved towards bolder designs and more imaginative proposals. Major brands are opting to combine materials and vibrant, eye-catching colors.

The aesthetics of mirror glasses are not disappearing but are evolving towards more sophisticated proposals with gradient lenses. One of the bets of sunglasses brands for 2017 is the return to differentiation between masculine and feminine models, leaving behind the unisex style that has been dominating the sector. We will see sunglasses with distinctly feminine shapes and colors versus strictly masculine models. Large, 80s-style glasses are back, more decorated and with sharp angles and whimsical lines.

The bridges of the glasses open up to a multitude of creative possibilities: double, wide, thin, or practically non-existent. Clip-ons are back, real or simulated, on the frames (sunglass lenses that fit over corrective glasses frames). Alongside imaginative bridges, we will see flat lenses that achieve very current glasses, perfect for urbanites.

If the material that dominated sunglasses until now was acetate, in 2017 it will be somewhat relegated by metal, which is regaining ground. Aluminum, titanium, and steel join another, much newer material: wood. Despite what it might seem, wooden frames, combined or not with metal, are resistant and comfortable.

What Requirements Imported Sunglasses Must Meet

Many imported sunglasses do not meet the necessary requirements established by European regulations. For sunglasses to have the minimum required quality, they must meet the following conditions:

  • Have the CE marking indelibly on the temple, as well as the identification of the manufacturer or distributor in the European Union and the model reference.
  • The frame must be free of edges and roughness and must have a structure resistant to adverse conditions and flammability.
  • The lenses must be free of scratches, streaks, bubbles, cracks, irregularities, or deformations. In addition, they must be resistant to breakage, impacts, and heat.
  • They cannot have prescription or prismatic effects.
  • They must reduce the intensity of visible light with a solar filter whose value (from 1 to 4) must be marked indelibly.
  • They must filter or eliminate harmful UV radiation below 400nm. Although it is not mandatory to engrave it, it is advisable to ensure that the manufacturer meets this requirement.

Sunglasses must be accompanied by an instruction leaflet for the user in the language of the destination country. The instructions must include:

  • Name and address of the manufacturer or distributor in the EU
  • Reference to the European standard to which it conforms
  • Usage characteristics
  • Warning of risks and usage restrictions
  • Explanation and marking regarding the degree of protection against light and UV radiation
  • Cleaning and maintenance standards
